Coming to console on 25th April 2018, is Action/RPG, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption, which has been touted as having a firm but fair, Dark Souls inspired gameplay mechanic. The games protagonist, Adam will face off against horrifying monsters that represent the seven deadly sins, as he seeks to atone for his crimes. Not content with giving gamers a tough challenge, each boss fight sees Adam forced to make a sacrifice, which sees a de-buff if his stats, that affect him for the remainder of the game. This is quite frankly, a genius idea, and one that will force you to constantly keep a strategy in mind when faced with a combat encounter.
Various weapons and items are promised, and with every decreasing stats, Adam will need all the help he can get as he grows weaker with each encounter, which is going to be essential to survival.
Promising deep lore and narrative, the dark realm that Adam has been forced to wander offers various weapons and items to discover, during his tale of redemption. Multiple endings are promised, along with carefully crafted enemies to battle. Sinner is shaping up to be a potentially hefty challenge. But what has Adam done to deserve his punishment? Defeat each boss to discover more about his past, which reveals his history and links to the atrocities that await him. Will he be absolved of his past misdemeanors, or will he forever remain punished?
Inspired by Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus and some Anime for good measure, developer Dark Star Game Studio is comprised of former members of Ubisoft, Konami and Blizzard, looking to bring a Triple A quality game for the hardcore game fans. If it’s influences are anything to go by, Sinner is almost certainly going to provide a hefty challenge. So, if you’re a fan of the Dark Souls games, or just a masochist in general, then perhaps you should mark Sinner on your calendar. Check out the trailer below along with the screenshots and then try and convince yourself that a dark, foreboding fantasy realm like that isn’t worth visiting. I think we may just have a hit on our hands come April.
