Although the fixed camera angles might feel dated to some, they contribute to the game's unique tension. Overall, it’s a must-play for anyone interested in the origins of "survival horror".

Good write up on the games. The fixed cameras increased the tension for sure, you did not know what was around the corner and going up the stairs with the loading scenes and the doors opening used to add a little bit more tension as well.
I played Resi 1 without a memory card so that increased the tension even more. Still remember getting head swiped off by a Hunter for the first time after coming back into the Mansion and being on low health and having to then start all over again. Also getting to the Tyrant and having no idea what to do after using every last bullet!
The Revelations series deserves a mention as well. That was really good. Even though 6 got panned I enjoyed it as was the first game I got to play with my son and he has been hooked on Resident Evil ever since. Can't wait till 9!
